Registration and renewal of domains

Registration of new domains

New domains are registered for an initial one-year period. The fee is composed of a one-time set-up charge of €10 and an annual registration fee which varies according to Second-Level Domain (SLD).

Note:

  • Fees for new domains should be settled within one month from date of registration to avoid suspension or cancellation of domain.

  • Fees are non-refundable even if domain is not required for the full year.

Renewal of existing domains

Existing domains can be renewed for one-year or two-year periods.

Note:

  • Renewal fees become due two months before domain expiry and should be settled before expiry to avoid suspension or cancellation of the domain.

  • Fees are non-refundable even if domain is not required for the full year or two-year renewal period of renewal. Furthermore, once a domain is renewed, any subsequent revision in fees will not affect the renewed period.

Note:

If a domain is suspended but not yet cancelled then it may be re-activated following payment of outstanding registration fees + the reinstatement fee.


Other notes:

  1. 18% Value Added Tax (VAT) is added to invoices issued to Billing Agents established in Malta. Invoices issued to Billing Agents established in other EU Member States who do not provide NIC(Malta) with their VAT Number will have the rate applicable in their country. VAT is not otherwise added to invoices issued by NIC(Malta).
